There are a number of ski schools in Tauplitz and Bad Mittendorf.  We recommend Mount Action in Tauplitz as some of the instructors speak English well.  Access to the skiing on the Tauplitzalm is gained using the new four-seater chairlift in the centre of Tauplitz.  Parking is found adjacent to this lift.  There are many tree-lined runs to explore with the next being the 7km run back to Tauplitz.  There is also a long cruising run into Bad Mittendorf, but you will need to catch a bus back to Taupltiz.  Eating on the Tauplitzalm is best at Hotel Zand, where you can "watch the world ski by" from the sunny balcony.  Mount Action Ski School meet next to the Zand and lucky non-skiers and beginners get a lift here by skidoo!

 

                

Twenty minutes South of Purgg is the stunning Donnersbach valley with its snow sure skiing at the Planneralm and great family skiing further up the valley in Donnersbachwald.  This area has been further improved recently by the introduction of a new six seater chairlift.

               

Twenty five minutes to the North you will find good skiing on the Loser mountain, overlooking the Altausee; one of the many lakes in the Salzkammergut region.  This area has also benefitted from the construction of new chairlifts.

                              

Half an hour to the West you will find Pruggern, Haus and Schladming (hosts of the FIS Alpine Ski World Championships February 4th-17th 2013).  This area is known as Ski Paradise and now that most of it is linked, it has become one of the largest areas of skiing in the Alps.
