The medieval village of Pürgg sits upon a wooded hillside overlooking the Ennstal Valley and forms the "gate guardian" position into the Styrian Salzkammergut. Across to the west, Mount Grimming rises majestically to 8000 feet.
The village has two important churches. First to the South, is the tiny chapel of St Johann, and the parish church of St Georges.
Visibly stunning during the summer months, Pürgg attracts many walkers and climbers and just above the village is a newly refurbished swimming pool and tennis court.
